Hallways of the Tamshing Temple

The story of these stunning images by this gifted young photographer began many years ago when Alex Black's mother, Pepper, was paired with a young Bhutanese monk, Samdrup. According to tradition, they were identified as spiritual mother and dharma son at the Great Moenlam Festival in Bodhgaya, the site of the Buddha's enlightenment.

These cinematic and atmospheric images were taken during Alex and Pepper's journey to meet Samdrup (now grown) and Samdrup's family in Bhutan. In that sense, it is the offering of one American mother's son to his Bhutanese brother.

The story is just beginning and we invite you to watch these pages for an announcement of Alex's public showing of these images. Also, coming soon, a special web site dedicated to Alex's portfolios of images from Bhutan. Fine prints of these images are available, with part of the proceeds to benefit Samdrup's monastery in Bhutan. Please contact Alex at enigma@turingstudio.com.
