We have combined this premier mid-length trek in the mountains of central Bhutan with a wider cultural itinerary for a more comprehensive Bhutan experience. The Dhur hot springs have long been attributed medicinal properties and Bhutanese people of all ages have followed the well-beaten path to its healing waters. Dhur also has a mystical quality arising from it's associations with the life of Guru Padmasambhava, the 8th-century patron saint of the Himalayas. We will have ample opportunity to explore the religious and spiritual connections between the landscape and local beliefs as we wend our way through the scenic forests of pine, cypress, dwarf bamboo, spruce and hemlock. In spring rhododendron blooms add an extra splash of color. Join Bhutanese pilgrims in the much-loved pastime of a hot springs soak as we soothe tired muscles and absorb the dramatic surroundings. Your journey includes a stop at the Kurjey Monastery (pictured below) and other cultural highlights of both central and West Bhutan. |
