Even in a land recognized as one of 10 global "hotspots of bio-diversity", the newly opened valleys of Nabji and Korphu have the reputation of being ecologically well-endowed. It is estimated that the region, preserved under strict Bhutanese conservation laws, harbors a minimum of 395 species of birds, including the rare and beautiful Rufous Necked Hornbill. Otherworldly Golden Langurs, rarest of primates and completely arboreal, make frequent appearances. Covering six villages, we meet elders from shamanistic Monpa communities, admire the lush flora and fauna, including chirpine, rhododendrons (in spring) and wild orchid; we may even have opportunity to sample some delicious edible varieties in our camp meals. Our exceptional trekking crew tends to all details of camp, meals and porterage, leaving you free to explore and make friends wherever we pass. This exceptional low-altitude trek (below 5,000 feet) into the Edenic wonderland of Bhutan's Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park is nicely complemented by our cultural highlights of central and West Bhutan.
