ITINERARY IN BRIEF |

Day 1: Arrive in Paro, visit the National Museum. Day 2: Stretch your trekking muscles with a hike to the" Tiger's Nest" Monastery. Day 3 to 5: Paro to Jhomulhari basecamp (10-13 miles daily). Day 6: Acclimation and rest day at basecamp. Day 7: Jangothang to Lingzhi (12 miles). Days 8 to 12: Lingzhi to Laya (7 to 12 miles daily). Day 13: Rest day getting to know the people of Laya. Days 14 & 15: Laya to Gasa fortress and hot springs (9 miles to 12 miles daily). Day 16: Gasa hot springs rest day. Days 17 to 18: Gasa to Punakha valley (10 miles to 12 miles daily). Day 19: Visit the "Hall of 100 Pillars" and Temple of the Divine Madman. Day 20: Transfer to Thimphu, afternoon at the market. Day 21: Hike to Tango Buddhist College, afternoon transfer to Paro. Day 22: Return flight to Bangkok or another gateway city. (Longer, 26-28 day option includes easy cultural touring in the central valleys of Trongsa and Bumthang.)
