This journey takes us to the Trongsa tshechu festival, where the mystic traditions of the Chaam or masked dances add a splash of color to the season. Also features sojourns in the beautiful Phobjikha Valley to view the sacred Black Necked Cranes and the balmier Wangdue region discovering its exquisite temples and monasteries. The greater Himalayan snowpeaks are at their dazzling best, juniper and incense offerings send wispy curls skyward, with bright sunny days compensating for the crisp mornings and evenings. Our journey can be combined with a mid-Himalayan trek into the biodiversity rich valleys of the Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park, with opportunities to encounter Bhutan's rare and endemic Golden Langur monkeys (whose sightings are believed to bring good fortune).

EN ROUTE IN BANGKOK: Now by special arrangement, you may choose to be picked up and dropped off from the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport and experience the sedate flow of the city while staying at some of the most venerable addresses along the banks of the Chaophraya River. Your four-day sojourn includes highlights of Thai culture, a chance to study Thai cuisine, and a night at the nationally acclaimed Siam Niramit Theatre. For more information, please click here.

SUGGESTED EXTENSION IN THE REGION: Visit the tea gardens of Darjeeling, and Gangtok, capital of the erstwhile Himalayan kingdom of Sikkim. A bustling Himalayan center framed by snowcapped Kanchenjunga, Sikkim offers a glimpse into a now forgotten era in Himalayan history, which included an American queen, Grace Hope Cooke. Nearby Darjeeling is home to the world's best tea. Traveling with Sikkimese family friends, drinking copious amounts of the region's excellent brew, we are treated to an insider's view of life, culture and transition in this neighboring region.
