This travel program covers the highlights of West and Central Bhutan with a stop at the Gangtey Monastery, home of a present incarnation of a 15th century saint. This trip can be redesigned to include a 5-day trek or a longer 9-day expedition with a shorter cultural itinerary.

EN ROUTE IN BANGKOK: Now by special arrangement, you may choose to be picked up and dropped off from the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport and experience the sedate flow of the city while staying at some of the most venerable addresses along the banks of the Chaophraya River. CULTURAL
Day 1 : Arrive in Paro, visit the national museum with evening stroll in town. Days 2 & 3: Transfer to the capital and explore the capital with optional hiking. Days 4 and 5: Transfer to Wangdue and explore the old capital of Punakha, with optional hiking. Days 6 to 8: Transfer to Central Bhutan, with a stop at the Phobjikha Valley and Gangtey Monastery. Day 9: Walking tour of Jakar Valley. Day 10: Optional Hike to the "Burning Lake" and nunnery. Day 11: Return transfer to Wangdue. Day 12: Visit Wangdue Dzong, afternoon transfer to Paro. Day 13: Hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery or a more relaxed optional visit to a valley floor temple. Day 14: Return flight to Bangkok or another gateway city.

TREKKING PROGRAM 1
Day 1 : Arrive in Paro, visit the national museum with evening stroll in town. Days 2 & 3: Transfer to the capital and explore the capital with optional hiking. Days 4 and 5: Transfer to Wangdue and explore the old capital of Punakha, with optional hiking. Days 6 to 7: Transfer to the Phobjikha Valley and Gangtey Monastery (rare Black Necked Cranes may be viewed late fall through early spring). Day 8: Return transfer to Paro Valley. Days 9 to 13: Dragon's Path Trek. Day 14: Return flight to Bangkok or another gateway city.

TREKKING PROGRAM 2
Day 1 : Arrive in Paro, visit the national museum with evening stroll in town. Day 2 : Warm up hike to the cliffside Tiger's Nest Monastery. Days 3 through 12: Jhomulhari Base camp trek (featured on our site as In Goddess Jhomu's Lap). Day 13: Explore the capital with optional hiking. Day 14: Return flight to Bangkok or another gateway city.
